Why Choose This Uncirculated Unstruckl Planchet and Lincoln Memorial Cent?
The Lincoln cent is among the most well-known and widely collected coins in production today. While it is still circulating, the first Lincoln cents were struck by the U.S. Mint in 1909. These coins have seen some changes over the years, including both design and composition. The two specimens offered here are from the years the Lincoln Memorial design was in use. This set features an unstruck planchet that was intended to be a Lincoln Memorial cent, the other is a struck Lincoln cent that features the Lincoln Memorial design.
- This set includes one struck Lincoln Memorial Cent and one unstruck planchet.
- Both pieces are in uncirculated condition.
- Both pieces have been sealed in plastic.
- The Lincoln Memorial cent design was issued from 1959-2008.
Unstruck Planchet and Lincoln Memorial Cent
Obverse: The obverse is where Victor David Brenner's portrait of Abraham Lincoln is featured. Brenner's portrait of Lincoln hasn't changed much since its first use in 1909. The portrait appears on one of the Lincoln cents, however, since the other piece was never struck, this side appears blank.
Reverse: The reverse features the Lincoln Memorial design. The Memorial version of the Lincoln cent replaced the Wheat variety and was issued for many years until it was replaced with the Union Shield design. This design appears on the normally struck Lincoln Cent, however, on the unstruck planchet, this side is also blank like the reverse.
Uncirculated Condition
Both the Lincoln Memorial cent and unstruck planchet are in uncirculated condition. They have not been submitted to a third-party service for grading and encapsulation.
