Why add the Engelhard 1 oz Silver Prospector Round to your stack?

The Engelhard 1 oz. .999 pure Silver Prospector Round is an iconic issue in the stacking and bullion enthusiast community. The history of Engelhard started around the turn of the 20th Century. Through a series of acquisitions, the company became the largest refiner and fabricator of platinum, gold, and silver bullion in the world. Engelhard was the first company to develop the catalytic converter. The 1 oz. Engelhard Prospectors are the most sought after of the various Engelhard rounds. They were produced from 1982 through 1988.

Iconic Prospector design

The obverse of the round features the classic image of a Prospector crouched at the side of a stream panning for gold. To the right of the Prospector is the date and to the left is the inscription "U.S.A." "The American Prospector" appears beneath the image. There are two different reverses for the series: The Engelhard "E Globe" logo was on the reverse from 1982 until mid 1984, and after that the Engelhard "Eagle" logo was on the reverse from mid 1984 until production of the rounds ceased. Both reverse types bore the inscriptions "Engelhard" and "One Troy Ounce .999+ Fine Silver."

Secondary Market rounds

Since production ceased on these classic rounds nearly 30 years ago, their condition will vary. Individual rounds will ship in flips and orders of 20 will ship in tubes.
