First-Ever Modified Proof Silver Maple Leaf
The Royal Canadian Mint contributed a 1 oz. .9999 fine silver Maple leaf to this collaborative set. This addition to the set also marks a BIG first for the neighboring Mint to the north- the first ever Modified Proof finish Silver Maple leaf!
What some may not know is that the Royal Canadian Mint does not mint simple Proof Silver Maple leafs. This is because in conjunction with their 1989 release of the First Ever, and eventually last, Proof Silver Maple leaf, they said they would never mint any other Proof Silver Maple Leafs ever again. Therefore, the RCM is calling this special release a "Modified Proof finish."
The obverse of the coin displays Susanna Blunt's effigy of Queen Elizabeth the II on a field of radial lines, while the reverse features the simply elegant Sugar Maple Leaf as designed by Walter Ott. Both faces of the coin feature perhaps one of the sets most stunning features, a gorgeous pattern of etched maple leaves transitioning to stars in the mirrored field of the coin, just below the rim of the obverse and reverse respectively.
