Why order this NGC 1853-1865 S.S. Republic Seated Liberty 3-Piece set in a display box?
The Seated Liberty coins in this set were recovered from the wreck of the S.S. Republic. This shipwreck is among the most famous that have been found in recent years. It was carrying a large quantity of $10 Eagles, $20 Double Eagles, and Seated Liberty silver coins. The ship sank in 1865, and the coins aboard had various dates between 1853 and 1865. The S.S. Republic was located in 2003, and recovery began shortly after that. This set includes 3 coins.
Classic Seated Liberty design
Both the obverse and reverse designs on these coins are the work of Christian Gobrecht. On the obverse, Liberty is shown seated as she holds a pole with a freedom cap with one hand while she balances a shield with the other.
On the reverse, a bald eagle is depicted. A shield is covering its chest while it holds arrows and an olive branch with its talons. The face value is inscribed near the bottom of the design.

All 3 Seated Liberty silver coins in this set have been certified as recoveries from the S.S. Republic by the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC). Each one is protected by its own permanently sealed slab and this set comes with a display box.
