Launched in 1991, Professional Sports Authenticator (PSA) has become one of the most premier and trusted third-party grading services for sports card and collectibles. With their iconic Red Label, which is present on all of their graded sports cards, PSA pride themselves on accurately grading all collectibles via an intensive four-level authentication process. PSA’s market dominance is also due in part to their thoroughly documented pop report that allows users to track their entire collection of cards submitted, as well as historical information on cards graded by PSA throughout their inception.

Sports Card Certification: Beckett Grading Services (BGS)

Beckett Media was founded in 1984 as a publication focusing on sports cards and collectibles. After years of building up popular recognition within the sports world, Beckett Media created Beckett Grading Services (BGS) in 1999. Since its inception, BGS has become one of the leaders in sports card grading. Similar to PSA, BGS utilizes a 10-point grading scale, but also opts to half-grade cards, such as a 9.5 Gem Mint. What also differentiates BGS from other grading companies is their inclusion of sub-grades for sports cards which focus on corners, centering, edging, and surface. The sub-grades are then proudly displayed on both the front and back of the label.
