Why add this 1880 Morgan Silver Dollar NGC MS64 to your collection?
This 1880 Morgan Silver Dollar is a great option for collectors in part because an MS64 is more affordable than it is coming from the previous two years. The coin’s grade, which it received from the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC), indicates that it has some small contact marks, and perhaps one or two moderate marks, as well as some other minor problems. That said, it has good overall luster and is pleasing to the eye. This piece comes from the third year in which the Morgan was issued and was struck at the Philadelphia Mint, evidenced by the fact that it does not have a mint mark. The coin bears the image of Liberty on the obverse, as rendered by George T. Morgan, for whom the coin is named. On the reverse is an eagle with seven tail feathers, a correction from the original eight. 12.6 million of these coins were minted in Philadelphia in 1880. Each one consisted of .900 pure silver.
