Why add this 2016-P Australia $1 1 oz. Silver Wedge Tailed Eagle to your collection?
This 2016-P Australia 1 oz. Silver Wedge Tailed Eagle is the latest installment of this popular series. ModernCoinMart is the exclusive distributor of these coins outside of Australia, which means that you won’t find this coin anywhere else on the primary market. The coin differs from previous designs of the Wedge Tailed Eagle. While previous versions showed the bird in flight, this one shows it perched upon a tree. It is shown from the left, giving the viewer the chance to see the bird from head to tail. Its body is oriented toward the left, but its head is turned to face the holder’s right. The inscriptions on the coin are off center, with the “P” mint mark of the Perth Mint anchoring it at the bottom. Just next to the bird’s head at the top is the inscription of the coin’s name, “AUSTRALIAN WEDGE-TAILED EAGLE.” Another inscription in the lower left provides the year of mintage and coin’s metal content. It reads, “2016 1 OZ 999 SILVER.” As with other Australian coins, Ian Rank-Broadley’s effigy of Queen Elizabeth II appears on the obverse, along with inscriptions along the rim.
