Why add this 1879 Morgan Silver Dollar NGC MS63 to your collection?
This 1879 Morgan Silver Dollar is a great option for you to own an early Morgan that remains in good condition. The coin features the classic designs that remained in use through 1904 and were again used in 1921. The obverse features an image of Liberty that George T. Morgan designed using Anna Willess Williams as his model. She faces to the left of the coin, and a ribbon that bears her name, “LIBERTY,” is upon her head, as is a Phrygian cap. Her long hair curls down over the back half of her neck, and the date is inscribed just under it. The rest of the rim is shared by the phrase “E PLURIBUS UNUM” at the top and the thirteen stars, seven on the left and six on the right, that connect the motto and the date. The focal point of the reverse is an eagle. Its body is oriented toward the holder, but its head is turned toward the left side of the coin. Its wings spread upward, and the national motto, “IN GOD WE TRUST,” is inscribed between them. A wreath of laurel runs under the bird, nearly touching both wings. This coin is .900 pure silver and has an actual silver weight of .7734 Troy oz.
