Why order this 3-Piece Royal Hawaiian Mint King Kalakaua I 125th Anniversary 1 oz Silver Proof Medal Set?

Few places on earth can compare to Hawaii in terms of allure. People from around the world visit and dream of visiting the Pacific island paradise. For a brief period, the Hawaiian Islands were a united kingdom. That changed in 1893 when Queen Liliuokalani was overthrown by the US government. Hawaii would become a US territory and later a state. This three piece set marks the 125th anniversary of the end of the Kingdom of Hawaii. Each medal in the set was struck from one ounce of .999 fine silver at the Royal Hawaiian Mint. Only 1,000 of these sets were minted.

Exquisite Hawaiian Royalty Designs

Each of the medals in this set features an image of Hawaiian royalty. The only one shown in full body is King Kamehameha. The design of his medal is based on a statue of him that stands in front of the Supreme Court of Hawaii. His name, "KING KAMEHAMEHA," and "SOVEREIGN HAWAII," are inscribed vertically to his left and right, respectively. The other two pieces feature portraits of Queen Liliuokalani and Princess Victoria Kaiulani. Their names and titles are inscribed along the rim. These pieces also bear the anniversary dates, "1893" and "2018."

A traditional Hawaiian outrigger boat dominates the reverse of the King Kamehameha proof. It is joined by inscriptions of the medal's weight and purity, "1 OZ .999 SILVER," which is under it, and Hawaii's motto, "UA MAU KE EA O KA ??INA I KA PONO" (The life of the land is perpetuated in righteousness). The other two pieces bear an image that was taken from the Hawaii dala, a coin that was struck by the US Mint for the kingdom of Hawaii and was traded at a one-for-one rate. "AKAHI DALA" is inscribed at the bottom, while "ROYAL HAWAIIAN SILVER" arches over the image. Other inscriptions offer each piece's weight and purity.

Flawless PF70 with King Kamehameha Labels

All three medals in this set were graded Proof 70 (PF70) by the experts at Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC). Proof 70 (PF70) is their highest grade and is reserved for pieces that are flawless as seen under 5x magnification. This information is provided on a label that features a statue of King Kamehameha.

Best coin deal I have made personally living in Hawaii
When I bought these coins before Christmas, I felt lucky that I had randomly run across them and knew I was taking a chance as far as future value. The value was in my heart, blessed to live here in Hilo for 29 years.

But once I read the history of the Royal Hawaiian Mint found here,

http://www.royalhawaiianmint.com/about-rhm

I was surprised that it was started right here on my Big Island of Hawaii from an idea of commemorating the Hawaiian Culture to barter among friends in the little community of Ahualoa. This made the value of these coins priceless.

Thank you Telle Presley and all of those whom helped you with your long road to get your idea into action.

I love our Big Island of Hawaii as it is a hidden Gem. I am humbled to own a piece of history which motivates me to delve more into the history of Hawaii and King Kamehameha's greatest achievements. For instance, the term "Merry Monarch" was a term to celebrate King David Kalakaua's credit to restoring Hawaiian Arts and Cultural traditions. I have been going to Merry Monarch through the years and had no idea of this.

I ask you all to support the Royal Hawaiian Mint. I know the inventory is low after Christmas, but maybe someone out there can help them expand their movement into Perpetuating the Hawaiian Culture across the world.

Aloha, Paul
