This discovery was made in 2013 in Great Britain, the hoard contained thousands of ancient coins.
Claudius II was also known as Claudius Gothicus. He was Emperor of the Roman Empire from 268 to 270 AD. He is depicted on the obverse with a very tall crown. Inscriptions can be seen near the edge of the design.
Some inscriptions can also be found on the reverse. The central portion of this design shows a standing figure with a sword.
To have this ancient coin graded and encapsulated, it was submitted to the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC). The unbiased experts there assigned it the grade of Very Fine (VF). This specimen displays obvious wear, but many original details still remain.

A coin hoard is a mass of coins that typically was buried or hidden. The intent of the owner is to return to recover the hoard, perhaps after a battle or after pillagers have passed. From the perspective of collector's, these stashes of wealth are really buried treasure and they give insight to the times during which they were buried.
