The American Buffalo Nickel introduced in 1913 features one of the most cherished designs in U.S. Mint history. The imagery by sculptor James Earle Fraser was inspired by his own childhood in the mid-western United States and personal experience with multiple Native American tribes. The SilverTowne Mint, located in the state of Indiana, has borrowed the iconic Buffalo Nickel imagery for a series of bullion rounds. The roll contains twenty undated SilverTowne Mint Buffalo Rounds, each struck from 1 Troy oz. of .999 fine silver with a diameter measuring 39 mm.

Classic Buffalo Nickel Design

The reverse is dominated by the image of an American Buffalo from the New York Central Park Zoo named Black Diamond, standing upon a flattened mound of dirt. "1 OZ .999 SILVER" is inscribed below, replacing the original nickel's statement of denomination. Additional inscriptions include "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "E PLURIBUS UNUM."

The obverse features a right facing portrait of a Native American male, an image Fraser reportedly derived from the combined facial characteristics of three live models. "LIBERTY" is inscribed.
