Powerful Lunar Surface Design by Lucas Bowers
Queen Elizabeth II faces the right side of the coin wearing a necklace and her Royal Diamond Diadem, the crown that she traditionally wears to the State Opening of Parliament. Her shoulders are open to the holder. Clark's portrait replaces Ian Rank-Broadley, which spent two decades on Australian coinage. A rim frame bears several inscriptions, including the monarch's name, "ELIZABETH II," and "AUSTRALIA." Additional inscriptions read, "1 OZ 9999 AG," "2019," and "1 DOLLAR."
Lucas Bowers's reverse design features the lunar module standing on the surface of the moon. A single footprint is also included in the foreground. Along the top is a rim inscription that names the celebrated event, "MOON LANDING," and offers the anniversary dates, "1969-2019."
