Stunning Homage to Brave Heroes
Obverse: The obverse is graced with a portrait of George Washington. Inscribed "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "LIBERTY," "IN GOD WE TRUST" and "QUARTER DOLLAR." The presidential image was crafted in 1932 by John Flanagan, an accomplished medallic artist of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Reverse: The reverse depicts the Moton Field control tower beneath two P-51 Mustang type aircraft in flight. A Tuskegee Airman pilot stands in the foreground fastening the straps on his flight suit, as he looks to the sky with pride and confidence.
