On the obverse is his right-side effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, wearing the crown that she typically wears to the State Opening of Parliament, her Royal Diamond Diadem. Her portrait is joined by rim inscriptions that provide the face value of the coin, "5 POUNDS," and her name and abbreviated Latin title, "ELIZABETH II D G REG F D" (Elizabeth II, by the Grace of God, Queen, Defender of the Faith).
Rim inscriptions on the reverse read, "YALE OF BEAUFORT," "2 OZ FINE SILVER 999.9," and "2019." They encircle the Yale, which has the body of a goat, the tail of an elephant, the tusks of a boar, and two horns that move independently of one another. It balances a shield, which has the quarters of Lady Margaret Beaufort's arms along with her son, Henry VII's, golden portcullis.
