Why add this beautifully preserved Hungarian Silver Denar Madonna and Child in Story Vault Holder to your collection?

The coin known as the "Maddonnenmunzen," the Hungarian silver Denar depicting the Madonna and Child, was introduced during the reign of King Matthias Corvinus (1458-1490). The coin was the first of Hungarian coinage to portray the stunning religious image, and among the first European coinage of the period to include a full date. These silver coins were hand struck in Hungary by Magyar craftsmen until the early 17th century, with a weight of 0.5-0.6g and a diameter measurement of 15-16mm.

Incredibly detailed Madonna and Child

The obverse depicts the beautiful, iconic image of the crowned Madonna lovingly cradling the infant Jesus in her arms. The image is accompanied by the Mint mark "K B," and "PATRONA VNGARIE" (the Patron Saint of Hungary).

The reverse features the Hungarian Royal Coat of Arms, a divided shield decorated with four Hungarian arms including Arpadian stripes, Patriarchal Cross, Delmatian Leopard heads, and a Bohemian Lion, bordered with the ruling monarch's name and title.

Impressive About Uncirculated Silver Denar

This Hungary Denar Silver Madonna and Child is graded About Uncirculated by the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC). Having a Sheldon Scale equivalent of 50-53, the coin's design details will be fully struck, with evidence of slight flattening on the highest points.
