Why purchase this Extremely Fine 45 1139-1339 Genoa Silver Denaro?
The Crusades are among the most well-known periods in world history. They went on for centuries and the coin shown here was in use during that time. This Silver Denaro was issued by Genoa, Italy sometime between 1139 and 1339.
Highly symbolic designs on obverse and reverse
The obverse of this coin features a single symbol inside a circle at the center. The outer portion of the design is made of symbols also, including a cross at the top.
There are plenty of symbols on the reverse as well. The most significant of them is the cross at the center. It could be viewed as simply an equal-armed cross, or it could be interpreted as a sun cross due to the circle surrounding it.
NGC Extremely Fine 45
This Genoa Silver Denaro was graded by the professionals at the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC). It was also checked for authenticity and encapsulated there. The grade of Extra Fine 45 was given to this Denaro. While some wear is clearly visible, this specimen still possesses many of its original details. The permanently sealed slab that now protects it will preserve it for many years to come. This slab is housed inside of an outer holder containing a card that tells its history.
