Why order this NGC Very Fine 1300-1400 Austria Hand Heller?
The Heller has quite a long history. This Silver Hand Heller from Austria is one of the more well-known varieties. These were minted from around 1300 to 1400 AD. The minting techniques that were used then were completely different from what is used today. However, that also adds a little more appeal to this type of coin. Each coin was minted by hand, meaning that no two coins are exactly alike. Hence, the coin pictured is a representation of the coin that you will receive. However, each coin is guaranteed to be in VF20-VF35 condition.
Iconic Hand Heller design
This coin is known for the design on the obverse. A hand is shown here as if someone is holding their palm perpendicular to the floor. What's actually being depicted here is the Hand of God. Religious designs were quite prominent during this period.
The reverse also shows a religious design. A detailed cross is depicted within a diamond shaped border.
Very Fine 20-35 from NGC
To have this coin authenticated and graded, it was submitted to the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC). After it was determined to be authentic, its condition was thoroughly examined. This Silver Hand Heller was awarded the grade of Very Fine 20 to Very Fine 35. This is right in the middle of the grading scale, and an area that attracts many collectors.
