Why order this 1950's NOS Vintage PF Flyers Mickey Mouse Club PF Time Yellow-Black Paper Pennant Sign?

Whether you are a collector of shoe themed or Disney paraphernalia or you are just looking for a great piece for a kids' room, rec room, or mancave, this vintage pennant sign is for you. The sign was made to advertise PF Flyers, some of the most iconic sneakers of the 20th century. PF Flyers sponsored the Mickey Mouse Club, as featured here, as well as another famous kids program, Jonny Quest. This sign was made in the 1950's by Hood Footwear Products in Chicago, IL. This piece was meant to advertise the shoes in a shoe store, but it was never used. Found in an old shoe store in its original box, this pennant sign is in excellent new old stock condition, though it may have some minor wear. The sign measures 15" x 8" and weighs about 2 oz. A certificate of authenticity is included with your purchase.

A Classic American Sneaker

PF Flyers take their name from the Posture Foundation arch support insoles that inventor Hyman Witman and canvas shoe pioneer B.F. Goodrich patented in 1933. "Posture Foundation" became "PF" in 1937. Shoes with the insoles proved popular in the military, with some outfits even making them standard issue, and among athletes. Jack Purcell, a badminton player from Canada, even designed a shoe with them. New lines with the insoles for women and children were introduced in the 1940's, the same decade that they were put into oxfords and moccasins. In 1958, PF Flyers became the first shoe ever to have an athlete endorsement, which came from Bob Cousy of the Boston Celtics, a then future Hall of Famer. After selling a fifth of the pairs of canvas sneakers sold in America in the 1960's, PF Flyers fell out of favor with the public due to chances in the industry in the 1970's, but not before their place as a part of Americana had been solidified.
