Rhodium Bullion

Long: Rhodium was discovered in 1803 by William Hyde Wollaston. Rhodium was named for the light rose color of one of its chlorine compounds. Since its discovery, scientists and stackers have become quite interested in this rare precious metal. While scientists have found many uses for rhodium, the majority of the world’s rhodium supply is used in three-way catalytic converters in automobiles to control the emission of nitrogen oxides (greenhouse gases). With today’s scientific advances, there is no telling what uses we will find for this impressive metal.

Outside of science, rhodium has gained popularity among jewelers as a stand-alone metal, as well as a coating for white gold, platinum, and silver to maintain a reflective surface while on display for sale. Stackers around the world have taken an interest in rhodium in order to diversify their numismatic assortments.
