Some coin programs are available widely to collectors, while others are carried by a limited number of vendors. This page houses ModernCoinMart exclusives! What exactly do we mean by the term exclusive? In some situations, ModernCoinMart and its business partners worked with reputable foreign mints to source stunning programs not available for distribution in the United States. In others, we were the driving forces in their production. Here you will also find exclusive certification labels like the patriotic American Eagle label alongside exclusive coin offerings like China’s Moon Festival Panda series. All of the offerings in this category could be unique additions to your collection. The Moon Festival Panda Series is a ModernCoinMart exclusive that debuted from the China Mint in 2015. The series honors the Moon Festival, sometimes referred to as the Mid-Autumn Festival, which is traditionally celebrated in China to give thanks for a bountiful harvest and as a time to be with friends and family. Each year the medals have boasted special features that accentuate the moon in each design. The 2015 debut of the series included space-flown gold, while 2016 saw the introduction of a high-relief Moon Panda. In 2017 a holographic mark was added to the new Moon Panda design, and in 2018, a White Jade gemstone was embedded into the medal’s surface. 2019 saw the inclusion of a red-titanium, “Blood Moon” inset, and 2020 introduced the first-ever titanium Moon Panda.
Who knows what the next Moon Panda release will bring, but ModernCoinMart is proud to be your source for this stunning series from the China Mint!
We carry numerous exclusive Smithsonian licensed options that give collectors the ability to own replicas of historic numismatic works and sometimes even coin designs crafted by some of the biggest names in numismatics that, for one reason or another, were never struck! We recently carried a (2020) Smithsonian 1906 Silver and Gold Barber Double Eagle Ultra High Relief Revere Proof based upon a pattern piece designed by then Chief-Engraver Charles E. Barber that was never issued into circulation! A single gold specimen was struck, which was safeguarded in the National Numismatic Collection (NNC), part of the Smithsonian. Such issues will often arrive with storybooks and themed packaging that tells the riveting tale behind these pieces.
We’ve worked with various grading companies and other business partners to secure the exclusive rights to certain certification labels from the third-party experts at Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) and Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS). We have many exclusive labels themed for coins issued from a variety of countries around the world. They usually include an icon of the respective country next to a miniature version of its flag. For example, our NGC Australia label features the Australia opera house, and our exclusive NGC Canada label features a vivid image of Niagara Falls. We also have exclusive South Africa springbok labels, American Eagle themed labels for United States Mint releases, and more!
We’re incredibly proud of our exclusive Marvel and Star Wars NGC labels, perfect for the pop-culture enthusiast in your life. One of the stars of our roster of exclusive labels is PCGS’s hand-signed Mercanti Flag labels, which are often available for America the Beautiful coins. These labels have been hand-signed by John Mercanti, former United States Mint Chief Engraver and designer of the original iconic, heraldic eagle reverse design of the beloved American Silver Eagle series.
