Mauquoy Mint

Mauquoy Mint’s history dates back to 1875, when it opened in Antwerp, Belgium. After stints in several locations in Antwerp, the company moved to Grobbendonk in 1972. There, it opened a technologically advanced engraving shop that became Belgium’s most modern metals facility. Today, the company prides itself on its diverse product line that includes Medals, decorations, pins, and more. Mauquoy Mint is the choice of two of Europe’s most powerful governments, Belgium and France, when it comes to making medals and other awards. It also produces a stunning series for the Ivory Coast, as it continues to build its reputation outside of Europe. Don’t miss out on the chance to have one or more pieces from this relatively hidden gem of European numismatics.

Perhaps the most famous pieces that Mauquoy Mint produces are decorations for Belgium and France. The Belgian decorations are issued for the Order of Leopold, the Order of the Crown, and the Order of Leopold II. In addition to these distinguished honors, the business also produces civil decorations, medals of labor, and several decorations for the military.

In recent years, the Mint has also produced a variety of coins. The most famous of these have been Antiqued 5 oz Silver Big Five issues of the Ivory Coast. These stunning pieces have low mintages and vivid designs that put the holder in the heart of Africa, face to face with some of the continent’s most dangerous creatures, including the Elephant and the Leopard. Each piece is struck from five ounces of .999 fine silver and has a stunning antique finish.
