Why make this 1901-S Liberty Head Gold Eagle coin the next addition to your collection?
The $10 Liberty Head Gold Eagle was a product of the U.S. Mint from 1838-1907. The series' patriotic designs by the Mint's third Chief Engraver Christian Gobrecht, were also featured on the $2.50 Quarter Eagle and the $5 Half Eagle coin series, which were issued during the same time period. The coin's design remained primarily unchanged for the duration of the series, with the exception of the addition of the motto "In God We Trust" to the reverse in 1866. Meant to symbolize hope in the aftermath of the American Civil War, the motto appeared on the coin for all subsequent issues.
