Why add this Judaea Jewish War Prutah to your collection of ancient coins?

The first of three major acts of rebellion by the Jews of Judaea Province against the Roman Empire was the First Jewish-Roman War of A.D. 66-70. The war, also known as the Great Revolt, or the First Revolt, began due to disagreement over ethnic issues, and later evolved into protests against taxation. The First Revolt Prutah measured approximately 18mm in diameter, with a weight of roughly 3-4g.

Patriotic message

A vine leaf with a twisting tendril attached to a small branch is illustrated on the reverse. The image is surrounded by the Paleo-Hebrew inscription "Cheruth Zion" which means "For the freedom of Zion." A wide rimmed amphora with two handles and a conical lid is depicted on the obverse, bordered by the inscription declaring the year of the war in which the coin was minted, also in the Paleo-Hebrew language.
