What is today the state of Texas has a rich, unique history, and Texas Rangers have played a tremendous role in it. The "Father of Texas," Stephen F. Historic Texas Ranger Wagon Wheel Badge Design
The Texas Ranger Wagon Wheel Badge serves as the obverse design. It consists of a five-pointed star each arm of which touches the wagon-wheel outer rim. At the center is the inscription "CO. A," which represents Company A of the Rangers. Between the arms of the star are inscriptions that together read, "TWO TROY OUNCES .999 SILVER." Inscriptions on the rim frame together say, "TEXAS RANGERS."
On the reverse is a design taken from the Mexican 5 Peso Piece, which is similar to the country's modern coat of arms. Originating from ancient native religions, it consists of an eagle perched on a cactus consuming a snake. To Westerners, the design represents the victory of good over evil. Arching over the image is the inscription "ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS" (United States of Mexico).
