Why add this 2 oz Silver Intaglio Mint Morte Prima Di Disonore Round to your collection?
Intaglio Mint's Latin Allure Series continues with this Morte Prima Di Disonore Silver Round. The series features some of the adages and virtues of Ancient Rome. This round's name roughly translates to "Death before dishonor." It speaks to the courage that soldiers were expected to show in fighting for Rome and how even death was better than the disgrace of surrender. Struck on a 2 oz planchet of .999 fine silver, this round will arrive in Brilliant Uncirculated condition.
Striking Skull Designs
On the obverse is a left-side profile of a human skull wearing a Roman military helmet. A sword is inserted through the back of the skull and emerges from the mouth. The Latin expression for which the round is named, "MORTE PRIMA DI DISONARE," is inscribed along the bottom half of the rim.
On the reverse is another skull. Three swords stick through this one, all of them crossed and emerging from the top of the skull, which has wings emerging from either side. Under the image is a banner that bears an English translation of the Latin, "DEATH BEFORE DISHONOR."
