Why order this Highland Mint Silver Morgan Dollar Design 1 oz. Round-25% Rotated Die?
The Morgan Silver Dollar is one of the most renowned coins in American history in part due to its revolutionary Liberty design. This 1 oz. Silver Highland Mint Morgan Dollar Design Round-25% Rotated Die was intended to replicate the coin's design, but a unique feature has made this round particularly attractive. The reverse die is rotated 25% from the obverse. The round was struck from 1 oz. of .999 fine silver at Highland Mint.
Classic Liberty Design by George T. Morgan
Both faces of this round come from George T. Morgan's silver dollar, which was issued from 1878-1904 and again for a single year in 1921. On the obverse is Morgan's famous Liberty design. Morgan chose to model Liberty after an American figure, Anna Willess Williams, in a stark departure from the tradition of using Greek figures. She has long, curly hair that is partially covered by a Phrygian cap, a symbol of freedom. She also dons a crown of cotton and wheat, two staple American crops and a ribbon that bears an inscription of her name, "LIBERTY."
The reverse design is offset by 25% from the obverse. It features an eagle holding arrows and an olive branch. A wreath mostly encircles it, and the national motto, "IN GOD WE TRUST," is inscribed between its wings.
