$2.5 Gold Quarter Eagles

The $2.5 Gold Quarter Eagle is one of the more interesting classic U.S. coins. The first $2.5 gold coin was actually struck before the first $1 gold coin.

The classic $2.5 gold coin was struck by the U.S. Mint from 1796 to 1929. During this span a number of designs were used. The earliest design is the Capped Bust $2.5 gold coin. Like other coins from this period, these are very valuable and hard to find – if you can find them at all.

One of the most popular $2.5 gold coins is the Indian design. This design was used from 1908 to 1929 and was the last $2.5 gold coin. One of the reasons for this design's popularity is its availability. Compared to older gold coins, this one can be found readily, even in high grades. If you would like to add some collectable gold to your collection without spending too much then this can be a great choice. If acquiring high value coins is your main priority, there are several key date $2.5 Indian gold coins that have healthy values.
