I have to admit, at first I was just indifferent towards the new design, but the more I look at it - the less I like it.
What do you think of the new design? Step in the right direction to do something new and modern, or absolute nonsense and they should go back to the traditional designs?

I bought mine already and should have it soon. Although not my favorite design, I like it and think it will be considered a good design.

Nothing will ever beat the 2014 design.

I may get one but it is my least favorite design so far.

Just for comparison, every Britannia design for the past 30 years

I'm thinking they made a 2017 change with the anniversary 2017 silver and added a privy and put them in capsules if you buy a roll from the mint. The roll comes wrapped in plastic. The coin looks fine to me and with a limited mintage of 120,000 it should do well. http://www.ebay.com/itm/2017-Great-...938427?hash=item1ec4a1847b:g:gNkAAOSwA29Y4qDb
    I have a roll.

Yes, that is a version of the bullion coin for 2017. Unlike the US Mint, the Royal Mint uses a completely different design for the proof and the bullion coins.

Thanks for pointing this out SilverPIC. I can't say I'm too crazy about the proof. But if you collect the series you gotta go with the flow.

Yes, not the most beautiful design this year but there are so many other cool designs over the years.

No problem - I love the Britannia series too so I had fun making it.

My sentiments exactly! The 2017 has officially replaced the 2011 as my least favourite design, and I suspect it will stay that way for a very long time. I don't hate the design like some do, but when viewed next to the other coins in the series it really does look like the runt of the litter.
