Why purchase this D-Day Cold Enamel Medal 7-pc Collection?
On June 6, 1944, allied forces launched an assault that would change the course of history. 150,000 troops stormed the beaches of Normandy in an undertaking that would give them a continental foothold from which they would liberate the rest of Western Europe. On the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II, this 7-piece set remembers that fateful day and those who gave all for the freedom of others. These cold enamel medals are finished with cold enamel, which makes them attractive, durable, and wear-resistant.
Stunning D-Day Designs
Each of these seven medals depicts an important scene from or feature of D-Day. Among the seven designs are aircraft that helped to pave the way for the invasion, tanks that landed on the beaches, and landing craft that delivered troops to beaches. Many of those soldiers, of course, would die the moment the doors of the craft were opened. Other designs include an allied tank and a German "pill box" that killed countless Allied soldiers. Although the bulk of the designs are in black and white, areas above and below the focal points are lightly colorized to give the appearances of air and sea. Inscriptions above and below the scenes read, "D-DAY 1944" and "LANDING NORMANDIE," respectively.
