Why purchase this ancient bronze coin struck in the 4th-2nd Centuries B.C. from a royal collection?

Elyrus (also Elyros), was an ancient city located in the southwest of the Mediterranean Island of Crete. A prosperous industrial and commercial city with large weapons production, Elyrus flourished as the most important city of Crete during the Greek Classical Period. Struck 4th-2nd Centuries B.C., this coin of Elyrus is identified as AE14, a 14 mm diameter bronze coin, and part of the collection of the late Alexandre Caratheodory Pasha. Pasha was an important diplomat of the Ottoman Empire. As a Greek born in Constantinople, his career path to serve the Empire was unique, holding positions that included ambassador to Rome, commissioner in Berlin, Prince of the Island of Samos, twice as Governor-General of Crete, and he was the only Greek ever to be Ottoman Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The obverse features the illustration of a bee, as seen from above. Depicted on the reverse is the head and neck of a Cretan goat, facing right. The goat was divine creature on Crete, associated with the Pan, the Greek god of the wild, shepherds and flocks.
