Why Buy This 1971-1974 BU 40% Silver Eisenhower Dollar Set?
After the final Peace dollars were struck in 1935, it was quite some time before any new silver dollars were released by the U.S. Mint. The next U.S. silver dollar was the Eisenhower dollar, which was first issued in 1971. However, only some of these coins actually contained silver. The Eisenhower dollars in this 1971-1974 set are 40% silver. Each one has a brilliant uncirculated finish.
Iconic Designs by Gasparro
President Dwight D. Eisenhower is depicted on the obverse. This design is the work of Frank Gasparro. The date of each coin can be found at the bottom of the design, below Eisenhower's neck.
The reverse was designed by Gasparro as well. This design shows an eagle on the surface of the moon, Earth can be seen in the distance behind the eagle. This work by Gasparro was based on the patch created for NASA's Apollo 11 mission.
Each coin in this 1971-1974 Eisenhower dollar set has a brilliant uncirculated finish. These coins have not been certified by a third-party service, but remain as they were when they left the mint.
