The classic Route 66 road trip starts at the steps of Chicago's famous Art Institute. Service stations. Cars. America. That ribbon of road does wind from Chicago to L.A. The Chicago Motor Club was founded in 1902--nine long years after the first automobile was displayed in Massachusetts. The purpose was to exchange information about roads that were suitable for automobiles. The Chicago Morot Club merged with numerous other motor clubs and became "Triple A" (A.A.A.) the American Automobile Association.

The words "Bonded Service Station" appear at the top of this double sided Chicago Motor Club sign. A.A.A. appears at the botton of the sign. A "C" interwoven with a red star completes the center of the design. The sign has a bracket designed to hand the sign.

Truly a Spectacular Sign

The sign itself is in excellent condition and measures 36 inches top to bottom and 44 inches wide. This piece weighs about 50 pounds and was manufactured by the Burdick Company in Chicago, IL in the thirties. This stunning collectible includes a Certificate of Authenticity.
