Why Order This GEM BU 2023 Canada 1/10 oz Gold Maple Leaf Coin?

There are plenty of annual gold bullion coins to choose from today, but the Canadian Gold Maple Leaf has long been a top choice and for numerous reasons. The first Gold Maple Leaf coins were struck by the Royal Canadian Mint (RCM) in 1979. The specimen offered here is the $5 size and was struck for 2023. 2023 is an unusual year for the series because of the obverse. Pending approval of the first Canadian effigy of King Charles III by Buckingham Palace, Susanna Blunt's familiar effigy of Her Late Majesty still appears on the obverse, however updated with the years of her long reign. It is not yet clear how long this obverse will be used and while an official statement from the Mint has not yet been released, it is likely 2023 will be the final year the Queen appears on the Maple Leaf series.

  • This 2023 Gold Maple Leaf has a brilliant uncirculated finish.
  • This issue weighs 1/10 Troy ounce and is made of .9999 fine gold.
  • This specimen has a transitional obverse design.
  • Gold Maple Leafs include state of the art security features to help deter counterfeiting.

Transitional Queen Elizabeth II Obverse

Obverse: Now that King Charles III has ascended to the throne, his effigy is due to appear on the obverse in the near future. However, the new effigy has not yet received approval from Buckingham Palace, so the Royal Canadian Mint created a transitional design. That obverse still shows Susanna Blunt's portrait of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Unlike previous years, this transitional version is inscribed with the years "1952" and "2022" to mark Her Late Majesty's reign. It is not known how long this transitional obverse will be used. However, it is likely that 2023 is the final time Queen Elizabeth II will appear on the Gold Maple Leaf.

Reverse: The reverse still features a stunningly detailed maple leaf design. Near the maple leaf's stem, there is a tiny maple leaf mark that serves an an anti-counterfeiting security measure. The gold content is inscribed on this side of the coin.
