Canada’s Maple Leaf as You’ve Never Seen It Before!
Since 1979, collectors around the world have enjoyed collecting Canada’s premier gold and silver coins, the Gold and Silver Maple Leafs. Struck by the Royal Canadian Mint, these coins feature the iconic sugar maple leaf on their reverse.
Over the years, several new varieties of Gold and Silver Maple Leafs have been struck—but nothing like this.
For the very first time, the Royal Canadian Mint is striking Gold and Silver Maple Leafs as Incuse Black Proof Maples!
The Maple Leaf: A High Purity World Standard
The Canadian Maple Leaf is known around the world for its high purity, whether struck in gold or silver. That tradition continues with the first-ever Incuse Black Proof Maple Leafs—and then some! You can secure one of these coins struck in one Troy ounce of high-purity 99.999% (“five nines!”) pure gold, as well as one or three ounces of 99.99% fine silver.
Each coin is official Canada legal tender, with their weight, fineness and legal-tender value backed by the Canadian government. But as pure as these coins are, that’s not where the real excitement lies…
A New Kind of Maple Leaf
For the last couple of years, the Royal Canadian Mint has been striking special Incuse Maple Leafs. These coins feature designs struck below the surfaces of the coin rather than above them. It’s not a common thing to see in circulating coinage today and makes for a dramatic appearance.
To enhance that appearance, the sunken maple leaf and Queen Elizabeth II designs were given an extra satiny appearance. But then came the final touch…
Each one of these Gold and Silver Incuse Maple Leaf has been plated in one of the most expensive precious metals on the market—black rhodium. This dark metal covers everything but the main designs—a process that was incredibly difficult to pull off since the designs are sunken into the coin’s surfaces. The result is a shining dark Proof condition surrounding the satin-like incuse designs. It’s unlike any Maple Leaf you’ve held before!
Available Certified as First Day of Issue or First Day of Production
These high-purity, first-ever Gold and Silver Incuse Black Proof Maple Leafs are available graded by Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC)—one of the world’s leading third party grading services—as perfect Proof-70 (PF70) condition. Coins are graded on a scale of 1-70, making these coins absolutely flawless—even under magnification!
In addition, a limited number of coins have been certified by NGC as First Day of Issue (FDI), meaning they were secured from the mint and received for grading within 24 hours of the mintage’s release. Even fewer coins have been certified as First Day of Production (FDP), a designation that requires the mint to certify the coins as being struck during the very first day of the mintage’s production.
Once graded and certified by NGC, each coin is sealed in a protective black-core display holder. These holders come decorated with an exclusive Black Maple label.
Exclusive Limited Release
Striking high-purity Incuse Maple Leafs plated in black rhodium is no easy task. Mintages of these coins are incredibly limited, with just 5,000 one-ounce silver, 2,000 three-ounce silver and a mere 350 one-ounce gold proofs struck.
Even fewer of these coins have been submitted to NGC for grading and returned as flawless PF70 condition, certified as FDI or FDP. And as we’ve stated above, these coins come sealed with our exclusive Black Maple label.
These first-ever Incuse Black Proof Maple Leafs won’t last long. Secure yours now!
