Why purchase this Roman Empire AD 98-117 Silver Denarius of Trajan?

Ancient Rome had a long and proud history. For most of that history though, violence and instability in leadership reigned. However, the time of Trajan's rule was different. The Empire's power was at its zenith, with borders that spread from the Atlantic Ocean to the Crimea and from Britain to North Africa. Within the empire, the people enjoyed relative peace, and the leadership remained stable for two decades. Struck from silver, this coin takes you back to Rome at its most powerful.

Powerful Victory Design

A draped bust of the Emperor Trajan serves as the obverse design. His left shoulder is draped. Along the rim, inscriptions together read, "IMP TRAIANO AVG GER DAC P M TR P" (Emperor Trajan, Augustus, Germanicus, Dacicus, Parthicus, Tribune of the People).

Victoria faces left on the reverse. She stands on shields and holds a wreath in her right hand and a palm in her left. She is encircled by rim inscriptions that read, "COS V P P S P Q R OPTIMO PRINC" (Consul, Senate and the People of Rome, to the Best of Princes).

Beautifully Preserved VF

Struck over 1900 years ago, this coin remains in Very Fine condition according to the experts at Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC). That means that it retains moderate design details and still has sharp letters and digits.
