Why purchase this Judaea Prutah struck during the First Jewish Revolt?

The First Revolt, also known as the Great Revolt, was the first of three major rebellions by the Jews against the Roman Empire, beginning in AD 66. The Jewish people began production of First Revolt coinage after winning control of Jerusalem and the Jewish Temple. The coinage was a symbol of the Jews' newly gained independence from Rome. However, the victory was short-lived, as the city and temple were destroyed by the Romans in 70 AD.

  • The First Jewish Revolt Prutah were issued during the second and third years of the war.
  • This bronze Prutah was struck at the Judaea Mint.
  • The coin measures approximately 18 mm in diameter.
  • The coin is certified by the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC).
