Why order this Roman Empire AD 117-138 Hadrian AR Denarius?

Hadrian is among the most remembered of the Roman emperors today, in part thanks to his wall, which marked the end of the empire's territory in Britannia. While it has never served as the border between England and Scotland, is it not far from the modern day border. Hadrian's rise to power stemmed from his relationship to Emperor Trajan and was approved by the military and Senate. Many later opposed his reign, because he did not pursue expansionist policies, preferring to focus on unification and the fortification of the empire's borders. Found in the Golden Age Hoard, this silver coin offers you a direct connection to his reign.

Stunning Emperor Hadrian Design

Hadrian is depicted in right-side profile on the obverse. He bears a stern countenance and has a thick beard. On his head is a diadem, a symbol of his power. He is flanked by a pair of inscriptions that read, "HADRIANVS AVGVSTVS" (Venerable Hadrian).

Fortuna stands facing the left on the reverse. The goddess of fortune, she holds a rudder that is set upon a globe, as well as her cornucopia, from which plenty flows. Rim inscriptions say, "FORTUNA" (Fortune) and "AVG" (Emperor).

Well Preserved VF
