Why purchase this 5-Piece 2019 $1 Silver American Eagle Type Set?
This type set of five American Silver Eagles is a great way to celebrate the iconic series, which dates back to 1986. The highlight of this set is the Enhanced Reverse Proof, which was issued as part of the Pride of Two Nations Set. It offers a completely new look to this famous coin. Each piece in this set was struck from 1 oz of .999 fine silver. The Enhanced Reverse Proof, the Burnished Silver Eagle, and the Proof Silver Eagle all bear the West Point Mint's "W" mint mark, while another Proof bears the "S" mint mark of the San Francisco Mint. As is tradition, the bullion piece does not have a mint mark.
Featuring Adolph Weinman's Iconic Walking Liberty Design
All five coins in this set share the same designs. The obverse bears Adolph Weinman's famous Walking Liberty design, which featured on half dollar coins from 1916-1947. Liberty is draped in an American flag and wears a Phrygian cap on her head. The cap is a traditional symbol of a freed slave. She carries laurel and oak branches, which symbolize civilian and military honors, in her left hand. She extends her right hand in front of her above the morning sun, as if to present the holder with the new day. Her name, "LIBERTY," spreads throughout most of the rim. Other inscriptions on this face read, "IN GOD WE TRUST" and "2019."
John Mercanti designed the reverse, modeling it after the Great Seal of the United States. Thirteen stars, which represent the original states, are arranged in a triangle above an eagle. The eagle spreads its wings while holding arrows and an olive branch in its talons. The arrows remind all that America is willing to defend her values, while the olive branch denotes a desire for peace. In its beak, the bird holds a ribbon that bears the words "E PLURIBUS UNUM." Rim inscriptions include "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "1 OZ. FINE SILVER," and "ONE DOLLAR."
Virtually Flawless MS69 + PF69 in Presentation Display Box
All of the coins in this set earned either Mint State 69 or Proof 69 grades from the experts at Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC). Those grades indicate that the coins appear perfect to the unaided eye. One of the MS69 pieces has a brown label, and the other has a label that bears an eagle image. The latter has been certified First Releases. Two of the PF69 coins were certified Early Releases. The third was certified First Releases and has a label that celebrates the fact that it was issued as part of a Pride of Two Nations Set. ER and FR certifications mean that the coins were submitted for grading no more than 30 days after they were released from the mint. The coins come in a 5-slab universal noble black leatherette box.
