Powerful Eagle Landing Design by Emily Damstra
Obverse: The obverse of all coins in this set bears Adolph Weinman's Walking Liberty design. The early morning sun begins to rise as Liberty carries laurel and oak branches while draped in the American flag. Inscriptions on this face read, "IN GOD WE TRUST," "LIBERTY," and "2021." Adolph Weinman was an Irish immigrant to America. He made several numismatic contributions, including the designs for both faces of the Walking Liberty Half Dollar and the Mercury Dime.
Type 1 Reverse: John Mercanti adapted the Great Seal of the United States for the Type 1 reverse. Thirteen stars are arranged above the head of an eagle, which protects a union shield. Along the rim are the inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "1 OZ. FINE SILVER," and "ONE DOLLAR." John Mercanti was the Chief Engraver of the U.S. Mint for part of his nearly four decades with the institution. He is the most prolific designer of coins and medals in American history.
Type 2 Reverse: Renata Gordon sculpted Emily Damstra's new reverse design. An eagle carries an oak branch in its talons as it prepares to land with its wings spread. The rim inscriptions are the same as those on the Type 1, but they have been rearranged. Emily Damstra has her M.F.A. from the University of Michigan. She has been contributing designs to American coins since 2017.
