Why buy these Roll of 40 1913-1938 Random Date 5 Cents Buffalo Nickel?

The Buffalo Nickel is a piece of Americana like few other coins. Even non-collectors can recognize the piece more than a century after it was first issued and over eighty years since it was last issued. That's not surprising since the man who designed it set out to design a coin that could be recognized as distinctly American anywhere in the world. The 40 nickels in this set are in Good+ condition.

Classic Buffalo Design by James Earle Fraser

Both faces of the Buffalo Nickel bear the designs of James Earle Fraser. On the obverse is a composite portrait of a Native American man. The aging figure has long, braided hair and distinct facial features that combine with the feathers at the back of his head to make him immediately recognizable as Native American. "LIBERTY" is inscribed along the rim near his forehead. On the man's shoulder are the date and an "F," which represents the man who designed the coin.

Fraser's reverse design has been the subject of much discussion among historians and numismatists. It features an American bison in left-side profile. The massive creature is native to the American plains. The motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM" is inscribed above its back, and "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" spreads throughout the top portion of the rim. The coin's face value, "FIVE CENTS," is inscribed horizontally at the bottom.
