Why buy this 4-Piece (2018) 1934 Smithsonian Edition $100 - $100K 24K Gold Certificate Set?
Officially licensed by the Smithsonian and available exclusively from ModernCoinMart, this 4-piece Smithsonian Gold Certificate Set is ideal for any collector who is interested in monetary history. In 1933, the US abandoned the gold standard, and these 1934 certificates were issued the following year. They were not, however, used in circulation; instead, they were meant only for the Federal Reserve Banks. Each of these replica certificates was struck from 0.1 g of .999 fine gold.
Striking Portrait Designs
The obverse layouts of these notes are the same. From left to right in the main section, they feature the Smithsonian logo, a portrait of a famous America, and the numerical value of the certificate. From the smallest note to the largest, the men featured are Benjamin Franklin, President Grover Cleveland, the 25th Secretary of the Treasury, Salmon P. Chase, and President Woodrow Wilson. Each man's last name is inscribed below his portrait. "THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" is inscribed above the portrait, and the note's respective face value is spelled out below followed by the words "IN GOLD." Below that line is another that reads, "PAYABLE TO THE BEARER ON DEMAND AS AUTHORIZED BY LAW." The 1934 certificates are distinguishable from their predecessors by the inclusion of the four words "as authorized by law." Additional numerical inscriptions of the note's face value are in the corners.
On the reverse are inscriptions "THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and the note's face value spelled out. On three of the four, these are in the center. On the $100 certificate, they appear above and below, respectively, a vignette of Independence Hall. As on the obverse, the value of the note is displayed in numerals in each corner.
The experts at Paper Money Grading (PMG) certified that all four of the certificates in this set are in GEM condition. That means that each note has no more than one or two minor distractions that resulted from minor handling and that its centering is above average.
Don't miss your chance to own this 4-Piece Smithsonian Edition (2018) 1934 $100 - $100K 24K Gold Certificate Set.
