Why purchase this 3-Piece San Francisco Mint Emergency Production 2021-(S) American Silver Eagle Set?
This set of three emergency production Silver Eagles is perfect for patriotic collectors. Each piece comes in a patriotic colored core. These coins were part of of an authorized production run of bullion Silver Eagles at the San Francisco Branch at the U.S. Mint struggled to keep up with collector demand for Silver Eagles in the face of production delayes caused by the current Covid-19 pandemic. The coins are part of the 35th anniversary issue of Silver Eagles and are some of the last to have John Mercanti's heraldic eagle design on the reverse.
Including the Classic Heraldic Eagle Design of John Mercanti
Obverse: The obverse design comes from Adolph Weinman's Walking Liberty Half Dollar. The morning sun begins to rise and shines on Liberty, as she carries laurel and oak branches while draped in the American flag. Her name, "LIBERTY," is inscribed along the rim. Other obverse inscriptions note the date, "2021," and the national motto, "IN GOD WE TRUST." Adolph Weinman was a major contributor to the early 20th century American numismatic renaissance. His most famous contributions to the effort were the Mercury Dime and the Walking Liberty Half Dollar.
Reverse: An eagle clutches arrows and an olive branch while protecting a union shield under thirteen stars in John Mercantt's reverse design. Mercanti modeled the image after the Great Seal of the United States. Encircling the image are three rim inscriptions, which read, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "1 OZ. FINE SILVER," and "ONE DOLLAR." John Mercanti has designed more coins and medals than anyone else in the history of the US Mint. He served as the institution's Chief Engraver for part of his nearly four decades with it.
