Gorgeously Detailed Silver Eagle Design
Obverse: Lady Liberty is illustrated on the obverse advancing towards the rising sun, while carrying a bundle of oak and laurel branches. The walking figure of the young woman is gracefully draped in an American flag. Inscribed "LIBERTY," "IN GOD WE TRUST" and "2022." This patriotic design was first struck on the Walking Liberty Half Dollar coin over a century ago, in 1916. The beautiful graphic is accented with the "AW" monogram, giving credit to acclaimed early 20th century sculptor Adolph A. Weinman for the timeless image.
Reverse: The reverse features an eagle grasping an oak branch while lifting its wings to slow its descent. The eagle is surrounded by the inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "1 OZ. FINE SILVER," "E PLURIBUS UNUM," "ONE DOLLAR" and the West Point Mint mark "W." The design is an example of the work of U.S. Mint Artistic Infusion Program artist and award-winning illustrator Emily Damstra. Ms. Damstra's stunning eagle landing image was brought to fruition by medallic artist Michael Gaudioso, a member of the U.S. Mint's team of sculptor/engravers since 2009.
