Featuring the Treasured Walking Liberty Design of Adolph Weinman
Obverse: All three coins in this set share a common obverse design, Adolph Weinman's Walking Liberty. The design comes from the half dollar of the same name and features an American flag-draped Liberty carrying laurel and oak branches in the early morning sun. Obverse inscriptions include her name, "LIBERTY," the date, "2021," and the national motto of the issuing country, "IN GOD WE TRUST."
Type 1 Reverse: The Type 1 reverse features John Mercanti's adaptation of the Great Seal of the United States. An eagle spreads its wings as it protects a union shield under thirteen stars. The name of the issuing country, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," the coin's metal content, "1 OZ. FINE SILVER," and its face value, "ONE DOLLAR," are inscribed along the rim. John Mercanti spent almost four decades with the US Mint, including time as its Chief Engraver.
Type 2 Reverse: The Type 2 reverse features Emily Damstra's Landing Eagle design, which was sculpted by Renata Gordon. A bird carries an oak branch in its talons as it prepares to land with its wings spread. This coin has the same rim inscriptions as the Type 1, though they have been rearranged. Emily Damstra has contributed designs for several American coins since her first in 2017. She has her M.F.A. from the University of Michigan.
