Why Buy This MS64 Toned 1885-O Great Montana Collection Morgan Dollar 3 Piece Set?
Many collectors are drawn to Morgan silver dollars simply because of the sheer amount of history surrounding these coins. These were first issued for circulation in 1878. The set shown here includes 3 coins. All of these Morgan dollars were struck in 1885 at the New Orleans Mint. There were 9,185,000 of these minted. These 3 coins display toning, which many collectors find very appealing. In addition to the toning, these are hoard coins. They were found as part of the Great Montana Collection in 1998.
Morgan's Classic Designs on Obverse and Reverse
The date can be found on the obverse of each coin near the bottom of the design. It's inscribed among the 13 stars that form part of the border. Liberty is pictured above this. Both the obverse and reverse were designed by George T. Morgan.
The reverse shows a bald eagle partially surrounded by a detailed wreath. The "O" mintmark can be found between the wreath and the face value.
MS64 Toned CPCR 2169
When these coins were submitted to the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation, they were found to be in uncirculated condition. Each one was awarded the grade of Mint State 64.
