However, the coins in this set display toning and they were found as part of a hoard. They were found in the Great Montana Collection, which was initially discovered in 1998.

The date is on the obverse of each coin along with a detailed depiction of Liberty. The obverse and reverse were both designed by George T. Morgan, which is how the name Morgan dollar came to be.
