Why Order This MS64 Toned 1883-O Great Montana Collection 3 Piece Morgan Silver Dollar Set?
In 1883, the Morgan silver dollars in this set were struck at the New Orleans branch of the U.S. Mint. There were 8,725,000 of these 90% silver coins struck in New Orleans that year. This figure is moderate compared to other Morgan dollars. However, the 3 coins that are included in this set stand out from others like them. These specimens have visible toning. Toning is a natural process that occurs over time, but not all coins go through it. In addition to the toning, these coins were found in the Great Montana Collection.
Morgan's Exquisite Obverse and Reverse Designs
The obverse of each silver dollar in this set shows George T. Morgan's depiction of Liberty. She is pictured with wavy hair and wearing a cap. The date can be found just below Liberty.
The bald eagle design on the reverse was also created by Morgan. This eagle is holding its chest out and its wings high while it grasps a bundle of arrows and an olive branch with its talons. The "O" mintmark is near the face value inscription.
