Why buy this 2-PIece Type I and Type 2 2021-W American 1 oz Silver Eagle Proof Set?
The Proof Silver Eagle marks its 35th anniversary in 2021, and there's no better way to celebrate than by picking up this two piece set. The set consists of one of each type of the coin, providing a clear and stunning contrast. The biggest difference between the Type 1 and Type 2 coins is that they have different reverse designs. Unlike the original, the new type also includes Adolph Weinman's artist mark and has an interrupted serrated edge, a new security feature.
Stunning Eagle Designs by John Mercanti and Emily Damstra
Type 1: The Type 1 version of the coin features Adolph Weinman's Walking Liberty design on the obverse Liberty carries branches as the morning sun begins to rise. On the reverse is an adapted version of the Great Seal of the United States. Designed by John Mercanti, it consists of an eagle protecting a union shield and thirteen stars that represent the original states. John Mercanti was the twelfth Chief Engraver of the United States Mint. He occupied that position for just a fraction of his nearly four decades with the institution, during which time he became the most prolific coin and medal designer in American history.
Type 2: The Type 2 version of the coin bears the same obverse design as the Type 1 version, though Adolph Weinman's artist mark has been added. The reverse features a Landing Eagle design by Emily Damstra. The bird holds an oak branch in its talons as it prepares to land with its wings spread to its sides. Adolph Weinman designed the Walking Liberty Half Dollar and the Mercury Dime, two of the most important American coins of the 20th century. In addition to these and other numismatic contributions, he was also a sculptor, and his work can still be seen in numerous American cities.
Impeccable PF70 UC FR with Exclusive Eagle Labels Type Set
Both coins in this set earned Numismatic Guaranty Corporation's (NGC's) highest grade, Proof 70. That grade means that the coins appear perfect even under 5x magnification. The coins were also certified Ultra Cameo and First Releases. The former means that they exhibit particularly sharp contrasts between heavily frosted devices and deeply mirrored fields, while the latter credits them for the fact that they were submitted for grading no more than 30 days after their initial releases from the mint. This information comes provided on exclusive Eagle labels.
