Why order this 2020 2pc 88gm Gold/88gm Silver New Year Celebration Panda Set?
The Chinese New Year is among the most important holidays in Asia. In 2020, it started on January 24. This year marks the first year of a new lunar cycle, which lasts for 12 years. To mark the occasion, the Shanghai Mint released three coins that feature important Chinese symbols. This set consists of two of the three. One was struck from 88 g of .999 fine gold, and the other was struck from 88 g of .999 fine silver. The former is part of a mintage of just 88 pieces, and the later part of a mintage of 888 pieces.
Powerful Chinese Symbol Design
The two coins in this set share the same designs. On the obverse is a view of the Temple of Heaven as seen from ground level. This is a different look at the struck found on China's Gold and Silver Panda coins. Below is an inscription of the date, "2020."
Three important symbols feature on the reverse. On the right is a panda that is similar to the one on the original Panda coin, which was issued in 1982. Behind the Panda is a dragon. Dragons are considered friendly creatures in Eastern culture, a sharp contrast with Western depictions of them. Finally, the Chinese symbol "Fu" is in the lower left. This symbol is often displayed during the extended Chinese New Year holiday. A rim frame that bears three sets of inscriptions encircles the image. "CHINESE NEW YEAR PANDA" is inscribed in the top left. To the right is an inscription in Chinese characters. The coin's respective weight and purity is included at the bottom.
Perfect PF70 UC
The experts at Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) awarded the coins in this set Proof 70 grades. That means they appear flawless under 5x magnification. They also awarded these pieces Ultra Cameo certification, which means that they exhibit particularly sharp contrasts between heavily frosted devices and deeply mirrored fields.
