Stunning Landing Eagle Design by Emily Damstra
Obverse: The iconic Walking Liberty design of Adolph Weinman graces the obverse. The morning sun shines on Liberty, who is draped in the American flag as she carries laurel and oak branches. Her name, "LIBERTY," joins the date, "2023," and the national motto, "IN GOD WE TRUST," among the obverse inscriptions. Adolph Weinman immigrated to the United States from Germany. He was a prolific numismatic artist who is best known for designing the Mercury Dime and the Walking Liberty Half Dollar. His initials, "AW," also appear on the obverse.
Reverse: On the reverse is Emily Damstra's Landing Eagle design. The design is encircled by three rim inscriptions, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "ONE DOLLAR," and "1 OZ. FINE SILVER." Just inside the rim inscriptions is the second statutory motto, "E PLURIBUS UNUM." Emily Damstra has an MFA from the University of Michigan. She is a scientific illustrator and a nature artist.
